Chegou a hora de nos manifestarmos!
Dia 2 de Julho, sábado, encontramo-nos na praia Atlântica (Soltróia) pelas 17h30.
Vamos protestar contra o resort “Na Praia” que está a destruir importantes habitats dunares. Vamos formar um cordão de pessoas na praia em frente ao cordão dunar que queremos proteger.
As obras já começaram e estão a causar danos graves, irreversíveis, no ecossistema. Aparentemente o conhecimento actual sobre impactes ambientais, serviços de ecossistemas, biodiversidade dunar e litoralização excessiva no nosso país não são suficientes para o governo português impedir que se destrua o último pedaço de costa selvagem.
Permite-se a destruição do meio ambiente e a privatização do acesso a estas praias para a maioria dos portugueses em nome da construção fútil de resorts de luxo e campos de golf declaradamente destinados ao turismo da alta elite.
Exigimos que as obras párem, que o projecto não avance. A verdade é que o projecto ainda não tem sequer o licenciamento completo!
Contestamos a actuação das autoridades envolvidas neste caso (Ministério do Ambiente, APA, CCDR Alentejo e CMGrândola) que tem deixado muito a desejar pela total opacidade e falta de colaboração com as organizações do ambiente e da sociedade civil.
Exigimos que os terrenos das UNOP 7 e 8 sejam integrados na vizinha Reserva Botânica das Dunas de Tróia, pertencente à Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado, que é a única incumbência territorial que faz sentido para estes terrenos desde a génese desta área protegida.
O atrasado Plano de Urbanização de Tróia, desenhado nos tempos da ditadura, tem de ser revogado e as dunas que ainda sobrevivem nesta restinga de areia protegidas na sua integridade!

We need your presence!
On the 2nd of July, saturday, we meet in Atlantic Beach (Soltróia) at 5:30pm.
We are protesting against the luxury resort “On the Beach” that is destroying important dune habitats. We are lining up on the beach in front of those dunes to show we want them protected.
The actual knowledge about its irreversible and great environmental impacts or the ecosystem services and rare biodiversity that will be lost are not enough for the portuguese government to stop the last stretch of wild coastline in the country to be taken for futile economic interests (8 high luxury resorts and 5 golf courses are on the way between Tróia and Melides).
We demand the machines stop, that the project doesn’t go through. Though Grândola’s city council having suspiciously authorized early shipyard and road constructions, truth is the project is not licensed yet! And the favorable decisions in the environmental licensing process it is having from the “competent” authorities are a serious attack to our democracy, given the facts about its environmental impact.
We condemn the performance of all involved state entities in this case: the Ministery of Environment, APA, CCDR Alentejo and Grândola’s city council. They have been completely opaque, not answering or cooperating with NGO’s working on the issue, but promptly taking the side of the resort developer.
We defend this land to be integrated in the Botanical Reserve of Tróia Dunes belonging to the Natural Reserve of the Sado Estuary, which is its identical and neighbour land plot, atesting for both high ecological importance though the protected area is too small to be effective – as it should have been from its inception.
This never occurred because the absurd Plan for the Urbanization of Tróia is still in place since the dictatorship. It must be urgently revoked, and all the dunes surviving in this thin sand peninsula duly protected.
